From Brisbane
Wait a minute, what? I'm going to be home in a week? I have less than 7 days of travelling left?
I need to go back to Fraser Island and really see it. We had time for a day trip only, so a day trip is what we did and it was wonderful but not enough. Fraser Island is the largest sand island in the world. Sand from all the way at the bottom of the east coast is carried by long shore transport and ends up on Fraser Island. When the tour guide started talking about it I had to suppress a shudder because of the number of time my coastal geomorphology prof mentioned that piece of info. The highlight of the day on Fraser was swimming in Lake Birrabeen. The sand there is 98% pure silica, and it's freshwater. Few things are as entertaining as an entire tour group in the lake rubbing wet sand all over themselves, even in their hair. It's a wonderful exfoliant. It felt so good to swim in freshwater too. Very clear freshwater. The ocean has it's positives, but this lake was a welcome relief.
We took the bus to Noosa Friday morning and at 1:30pm we were picked up for our surfing lesson. That's right folks, Christa can now surf. And by surf she means that she can she can take a gigantic foam board out into the waves, catch a wave, and make it to shore standing up. If nobody is the way. My muscles are still sore from this experience.
Saturday was the Australia Zoo. That would be the one owned by none other than Steve Irwin, The Crocodile Hunter. It was a very nice zoo, but nothing super special about it except maybe those annoying "CRIKEY"'s on all the info signs. And the 5000 seat Crocoseum.
We arrived in Brisbane early this afternoon and ended up spending much more time than intended at the Queensland Art Gallery. This was due mostly to the fact that we enthusiastically created multiple new animals by tracing parts from a lit up wall. This would have been embarassing at our age, but there were many real full grown adults doing the same thing, and they didn't have kids beside them.
I'm going to be kicked off the internet in about 2 minutes. Gotta go!

CHRISTA!
Yay! I'm so happy you are coming home so soon! I miss you! You are still going to come see me after my archaeology exam, right?
Hehehe, yay for kiddie activities! They rock, of course. Oh and by the way, you are going to be coming to stay over for the first few days of my term. Yours starts later. So yeah, you're coming. No choice.
Love you lots and looking so very much forward to you getting home,

Eeeee! I can't wait to see you, of course I'm coming to visit after your exam. Sucks that you have one right when my plane lands. And even though I don't seem to have a choice in the matter, I think I will quite enjoy staying over for a few days. It'll be a wonderful opportunity for me to track down all those people I know in Waterloo. Oh, and to spend some quality time with you after so long away. =P Love you! See you in a few days! (whoa, what a weird thing to type)
