Q: How do you enrol a pre-enrolled student?
Toto, I don't think we're in Kansas anymore: if it sounds like somebody with a sore throat is screaming for their life, ignore it, it's just the cockatoos.
Continuing with orientation. Wednesday morning was enrolment for pre-enrolled students. I don't get it either. We handed in a bunch of paperwork (because apparently everything we'd filled out already wasn't enough) and got our student cards. The student cards are so incredibly cheesy. One of the forms to be handed in included a perforated rectangle that was then torn out. My photo was placed on top of the card, and then it was run through a mini laminating machine. I now have a piece of paper stuck in plastic that proves I'm a student at Sydney Uni. Much more exciting is the fact that my card has a foil sticker on it that entitles me to traffic concessions. I now get my bus and train tickets for half price, which means I can actually afford to be lazy on occasion and not walk everywhere.
After enrollment Ching and I decided to check out the second hand bookstore and see what texts they had. I was wearing my UofG hoodie. The bookstore is upstairs in Wentworth, the Student Union building, on the same floor as a bunch of pool tables. We walked out of the bookstore and a guy playing pool in front of us looked at me and said "U of G eh? Would that "G" happen to be for Guelph?" My yes came out sounding a little astonished and partly as a question. He turned around to face us and we saw that he was wearing a University of Guelph sweatshirt. He'd gone there for one semester before deciding to do his degree in Sydney. Crazy. He tried to convince us to play pool with him and his friend, but we just weren't feeling a connection so we made our excuses and got out of there.
I don't think we did anything very exciting for the rest of the day. Probably shopping for food or something. Triona came over in the evening to watch Something's Gotta Give. Heidi really wanted to be there so she could flirt with Keanu, but had other committments. So the responsibility fell to us to comfort the poor guy. I think we did a pretty good job. I don't know why Vikki doesn't like the movie. She says it's too unrealistic. Who watches a movie like that for realism? Well to each her own.
