The Bus Stop at 10pm

Toto, I don't think we're in Kansas anymore: Ok, Australia really does have big spiders.

The library had kicked everyone out and so I stood waiting for the bus, watching a bat flying around and wondering what exactly it thought it was going to catch in the pouring rain. My backpack was off balance so I shifted to move it into place. I ended up staring straight at the biggest free-roaming spider I have ever seen, its pale body glowing in the light of the street lamps. If not for my incredibly heavy load of notes and library books, I'd have jumped ten feet in the air. Once my heart rate slowed to a more reasonable pace, I reminded myself that if the spider is so freaking huge that it scares you out of your skin, it's the harmless species and not one that can kill you.
