Election Day
Toto, I don't think we're in Kansas anymore: sorry, I've got nothing. every news station is broadcasting U.S. election results, just like everywhere else in the world.
"Since it's already tomorrow over there, would you mind telling us the election results?"
Sorry Dad, the time zones don't work that way! It's a good thing the Melbourne Cup (horse racing, yesterday) and the U.S. election didn't fall on the same day. I'm not sure what would have happened. The news stations would probably have exploded or imploded or something. So I'm going to have my lunch and watch the polls come in on the NBC feed that Channel 7 is gettting, since there's really nothing better to do while eating. Well, except read my textbook, but I've been doing that for a while and need a break. I've decided that coating myself in sunscreen and studying in the backyard while sunbathing is an excellent way to kill two birds with one stone. Only problem? Can't do it for long without overheating.

Yes, the election was on at a sensible hour. But even when I went to bed, there hadn't been a decisive victory, though it was depressingly obvious where things were heading, whatever they said about it still being a close race. I can only imagine how much sleep was lost around the world.
